2/10 DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Commemorating the 36th anniversary of Ikeda Sensei’s visit to the Dominican Republic, an SGI delegation met with Editrudis Beltrán, rector of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), and Eleuterio Martínez, president of the Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic. UASD conferred an honorary professorship and honorary doctorate on Sensei in 1987 and 2008, respectively, and the Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic presented Sensei with an Honorary Nonresident Membership in October 2010.

2/11 CAMEROON

Soka Gakkai Cameroon youth and future division members participated in national parades in Yaoundé, Douala and Edéa to celebrate Cameroon’s Youth Day. Youth members also organized showings of the “Seeds of Hope: Visions of Sustainability, Steps Toward Change” exhibition in Yaoundé and Douala from Feb. 6 to 10.

2/12 CAMBODIA

SGI Cambodia held a nationwide leaders meeting to commemorate the 62nd anniversary of Sensei’s first visit to Cambodia on Feb. 11, 1961. At the meeting, the creation of four new districts across the country was announced.

2/19 INDIA

Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG) held a youth sports festival across five cities. The festivals were inspired by The New Human Revolution in which Ikeda Sensei urges youth to unite through sports festivals. Some 5,000 BSG members took part in the event.
